Announcing the Loss of an Admired GCSC Team Member

Dear GCSC Families,

It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of Heather Cantonwine, a beloved third-grade teacher at Tzouanakis Elementary School. Heather was a caring educator who made a meaningful and lasting impact on her students, colleagues, and the entire Greencastle school community. She will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Heather’s family, friends, colleagues, and especially her students during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at New Hope Fellowship Church (2450 N. U.S. 231, Greencastle). Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, June 11, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Counselors and support staff are available at each of our Greencastle schools to assist students and staff as needed. Please contact your child’s building administrator to coordinate support.
